Where I prove to you how immature I still am.

Remember these guys?

Well, they were a hit last christmas.  They've been floating around the kids playroom ever since, most recently were part of an impromptu puppet show that all 6 of us in the Lewis/Johnson house took part in...Yesterday, that little yellow guy ended up in the livingroom, where Jeff's kids were playing volleyball with him.  No, internet, I do not know why.  That is just what boys do.

Later in the evening, as I was cooking dinner, I heard a ruckus in the livingroom and I peeked around the wall to see what was going on...

Jeff was pretending to pull the yellow monster out of the little kids' ears and they were in absolute hysterics about it.  Often times, what will happen is that Jeff will spend about 10 minutes doing something ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS to rile the kids all up and then he'll wander off and leave them pinging off the walls like little pin-balls.  This was no exception.

Alyza was so amused by the "monster in your ear trick" that she decided to try it for herself.  So she grabbed the little yellow monster and ran after Jeff.  Being that Jeff is approximately 47,000 feet taller than anyone in this house, she targeted the only thing within her reach, and SQUEALED...

"THERE'S A MONSTER IN YOUR PANTS!!!!!"

She then turned to me and said "MOMMY THERE'S A MONSTER IN JEFF'S PANTS!!  LOOK!!!"

I looked over at Jeff, who was looking at me, and I am pretty sure both of us were thinking:

"That's what she said."

reality check.

Often, as I sit to join Jeff for our morning cup of coffee...  he smirks at me, or chuckles, or avoids eye-contact all together...

I've never really understood why...

Girls night, was as always, a BLAST. 
 

We celebrated Miss Stacy's birthday with Champagne and cake!

 
There was karaoke, dancing, lots and lots of randomness, and even a cab ride home...  All of the ingredients for a perfect girls night out.

Also - been working on some "shelves" at the new house...  here's what I've come up with...  Yes, some of the frames are still empty...  Gotta (eventually after everything else is done) make some time to pick out photos to fill them with...  Maybe I'll get a personal assistant for my birthday?

You have never seen so many leaves in your freaken LIFE!  Thank you man-kind for the creation of leaf-blowers, and thank you Dad for saving the day!  My blistered hands are grateful!

A couple shots from Halloween.  We got a bit rained on, but still managed to have a great time.  This year we had a froggy and a butterfly...

More treat-making happened when my parents stopped over.  Where my Mom comes up with these ideas is beyond me, but YUM  YUM!!

perfect treat to make on a rainy fall day.

Harper's Butterflies are making their rounds through Jeff's family...  I had to try my hand at making these yummy yummy YUMMY treats myself.  SO easy, and so YUM!

Lay some mini pretzels out on a cookie sheet.  Top with hershey kisses.

Pop in an oven, and "warm" for 2-3 minutes at 350 degrees!
(Careful not to over-cook, you just want the chocolate to be melty, not well-done.)

Remove from oven and smush peanut-butter M&M's into the kisses while the chocolate is soft.  (The kids had a blast smushing several into one, as you can see.)

Let them cool (or pop in the fridge for a bit) and then eat & enjoy.

Warning:  may cause belly-aches if you eat too many, which is easy to do, since they are RIDICULOUSLY addictive!

on the topic of zits

It's no secret that my skin is having a very hard time adjusting to the multiple sudden/abrupt changes in water that I've been experiencing as a result of moving several times in a smallish time frame....  If you were to see me in person right now, you might be alarmed.  Or perhaps you would wonder how it suddenly became possible for a pepperoni pizza to speak English.  I am not sure...  but it would frighten you, I am certain of that.

 

It has gotten to the point where I am pretty sure Jeff is going to remove all mirrors from the premises.  I say this because I am almost positive that he is tired of the theatrics that take place as I emerge from the bathroom each night.  Ya know, the bathroom where I've just spend a half hour in front of that mirror applying eleventeen layers of expensive cleansers and cream on freshly exfoliated skin, and have dabbed each red spot with some kind of magic tea-tree oil goop that is supposed to make the zits disappear, BUT THEY DO NOT.  And every night as I climb into bed with my dabs of goop, looking like the victim of a cottage cheese fight gone bad - I whine about how gross my skin looks right now, and LOOK AWAY, I AM HIDEOUS, and Jeff is busy trying to make me laugh and instead I roll over and smear goop all over my pillow.

 

Next Alyza will be drawing me with red dots all over my face, and her teachers will send her home because SURELY WE MUST ALL HAVE H1N1!!
